Why do so few go for it…
because most have been conditioned to follow the herd. Herd mentality is not for those wanting to stand out…those wanting a life free of financial worry and stress. And these days, following the herd may not even pay your bills let alone provide income to take care of yourself in your Golden years or leave a legacy for your family.
It’s really okay to be a little scared. “A journey of a 1,000 miles begins with one step”.
I have worked for others and for myself and I won’t lie….working for myself is much better. I have learned way more, too. Just a couple of years ago I walked into my JOB as a Sales Consultant at an auto dealership and was Downsized, Fired, Let go….it doesn’t matter how you phrase it….it was the end of hating Mondays and loving Friday….though at the time, I thought it was the end of the world.
So how do you start gaining the income and freedom you deserve?
Well, I wish I could tell you there’s a magic pill, but unless you have a rich relative planning to leave you their fortune, you will have to roll up your sleeves, turn off the tv, tell your friends you are taking some personal time to change your life, and get your family on board. Consider yourself in school because unless you have been an online network marketer, you will need to learn the ropes . (or you can spend a few years figuring it all out yourself)
If you are trying to transition from a JOB where you have a lot of knowledge, you may be able to leverage your knowledge via blogging into a nice monthly residual income with the new Empower Network blogging platform. - may have employees to worry about

Network Marketing/Affiliate Marketing
- most can be operated while you travel
- low start up cost and low overhead
- you can leverage your time by building a team who share revenue/team concept
- can build for retirement quickly with residual income
- really flexible schedule-set your own hours
- easy to retire when you’re ready
Aside from considering what type of business you want to start, you have to fix your mindset. If you have never worked for yourself, you have to change your thinking from worker to owner. A great book to help you make the transition is The Business of the 21st Century
Mindset is a big one with network marketers. Those of us who stick around, realize we are all on our on time table but the only way we can fail is to quit. You will progress in network/affiliate/online marketing if you are in the game. I mean, if you are tuned into what’s going on around you. You must be a student of the game.
You have to believe in yourself and on days you don’t, you have to be able to bounce back, and you will if you have the “fever”. Your why has to be strong enough so you don’t mind if you are going on no sleep, if you have to skip going out with your friends for the next year, if you have to keep the JOB you hate a little longer until you get it figured out. You have to keep the end goal in mind and stay laser focused . If you can do that, you will have a life like few others.

1) treating your business like a hobby rather than a business
If you treat it like you spent a million dollars on it, you will earn a million dollars with it . Remember, a hobby costs you money and a business makes you money. One of the biggest advantages of starting a network marketing business is the low entry cost lets anyone get started, but one of the disadvantages is that many people never take it seriously and just look at is as a way to make a few extra dollars rather than a way to reach true financial freedom that you deserve. Don’t make this mistake.
2)getting so overwhelmed trying to learn everything that you never take action on the income producing activities. I made that mistake. I felt like I had to have a blog, do PPC, video, worry about SEO, worry about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and on and on. It was so overwhelming and stressful trying to figure it all out that I never really got going enough on one thing to make much progress. Pick one or two things and concentrate on them until you get good then expand your marketing efforts.
and honorable mention, avoid shiny object syndrome (jumping from one networking or affiliate program to another because you haven’t made your first million in a few months. You have to give yourself a chance .
