Creating Brand Loyalty Helps Prevent Shiny Object Syndrome in Your MLM Business
Shiny Object Syndrome: I found this great definition of shiny object syndrome; chasing after “the next great thing” without actually implementing/using/taking action on
any of them – or at least not to the extent that any results could be measured before being distracted by the next “must-have” thing.
Does this sound familiar…someone hounds you to join their network marketing company that is suppose to be the next best thing and a few months later, they are onto the next company/comp plan because it’s suppose to be so easy to make money for the masses (but really for them). I understand it’s a tuf world out there and people are desperate to make money, but from what I have seen the only ones who make money jumping from company to company are the ones with big lists. And everyone else who follows ends up starting over, not making any real money, while becoming cynical of our industry.
So, how does creating brand loyalty help prevent shiny object syndrome in Your Mlm Business…
think of businesses where you like to shop and ask yourself why you like to shop there. Do you always shop for lowest price or do you sometimes shop at certain places because you are treated well or just know like and trust the owner or manager ?
I use to work as a Sales Consultant at an automotive dealership where we had a code of conduct that stated we were always suppose to open the door for our guests and greet them when they entered the dealership, there had to always be fresh flowers in the rest rooms, and freshly baked cookies in the waiting area. Our guests were really loyal because we made them feel special.
Another example is my chiropractor’s office. The entire staff knows my name and about our family. They make us feel like we matter. They make us feel like they really want to help us.
And in our family’s Wisconsin Dells vacation home rental business, we often put up happy birthday signs or get a small gift for a newly married couple staying at our home. A small jester that shows you were listening makes people feel special. And who doesn’t like being remembered with a birthday or holiday card .
In all these examples, the business integrated something called CRM or Customer Relationship Management which creates brand or business loyalty. Do you like to be around people you know, like, and trust. Of course you do. There’s something comforting about being around people who care about you. It’s like being home and you want to stay.
Bringing the concept of CRM to your network marketing business is smart and will assist in creating brand loyalty to help prevent Shiny Object Syndrome in your Mlm business.
Let’s examine this idea a bit more ….if you are your brand, what do you think makes you more attractive,
A)putting out quality content that shows you are a student of the industry, helping people grow their business, and being a leader by staying focused and encouraging your team to stay focused, as well
B)going from one program to the next to the next and trying to take your down line with you each time.
There are legitimate times to switch programs or companies but switching every few months trying to find instant gratification in the form of a quick payout is not a way to build loyalty in your brand.
Assuming your company is solid with a good comp plan,
if you want your team to have blinders so they don’t get shiny object syndrome and drop out on you, you need to be a leader, have a good Customer Relationship Management Plan for getting to know your team, helping them, training them, showing them you care and aren’t going anywhere. They will do what you do, so do what you want them to do. Be a leader.
If you remind your team that jumping from one thing to another won’t get them where they want to go and create a community via Facebook Groups, Skype rooms, team calls, etc. they will start to create bonds and a loyalty to you for giving them the support they want and need.
A great way to help jump start them and grow their income quickly so they never have a chance to get shiny object syndrome is to introduce them to the Empower Network where they can get a dot to dot plan on how to grow their income to 15K in months rather than years while adding a potentially significant second income source that can help with their marketing expenses in their primary.
Remember, for most people praise and a pat on the back are more important than money. Getting to the top in MLM takes work and we all have had days when we wanted to quit.
If you are there with a word of encouragement on their bad days, they will stand with you .
Less shiny object syndrome equals more residual income because people will stay long enough to make money.
Thus,
creating brand loyalty helps prevent shiny object syndrome in your mlm business
by making you or “your brand” more appealing to your team than everything else out there. When they can see themselves reaching their goals if they stick with you, then they will want to stick around and make money with you. After all, there is no I in Team.
Have you been on one side or the other of “Shiny Object Syndrome”? It’s kind of like having a candy store right in front of you when you have a sweet tooth.
I would love to hear what you think, so leave me a comment and if you liked this post, tell me why and like it for me.
Take care ,
Sue
